Remastered TRANSFORMERS 30th Anniversary will hit BLURAY + DVD

Just in time for the film’s 30th anniversary, Shout! Factory and Hasbro Studios announced that they are working together to release an all new edition of the classic animated film on September 13, 2016.

maxresdefaultThe re-release will contain a newly remastered digital high definition transfer from the original 35mm source material. The film will be available in a collectible packaging and as expected will include bonus features but what’s not known is if these bonus features will be carried over from the 20th anniversary release of the film or if it’s all new bonus material. Perhaps a combination of the two? Why not!

The film has been released on blu-ray format in other countries outside of the United States before but with out the additional bonus content.

“The Transformers franchise has been part of American popular culture for more than 30 years, developing into one of the most recognizable brands around the globe,” said Stephen Davis, Chief Content Officer and Executive Vice President of Hasbro. “Transformers – The Movie played a huge role in the brand’s early success, laying the foundation for major motion pictures, several successful TV series, clothing and apparel, toys and much more. We are thrilled to work with Shout! Factory to deliver the original movie to fans in a completely remastered HD experience.”

I’m really excited to finally own a much deserved high definition version of this classic movie. Looking forward to reliving the moment a robot made me cry as a child lol. I’m also hoping the blu-ray comes with a UV Digital download so I can add it to my digital video library to enjoy on the go.

“A Band Called Death” NETFLIX-IT MOVIE REVIEW

A year or two ago I was listening to a SMODCAST episode where Kevin Smith and Scott Mosier were discussing the premise of a documentary film that Scott was producing and it caught my attention and sorta stuck in the back of my mind. So tonight I was strolling through the documentary section of Netflix on my Wii U and I saw that they had it available for streaming and I finally got around to watching it.

A Band Called Death is the story about 3 blood brothers growing up in Detroit, Michigan and with the support of their mother they formed a band by the name of “Death” in the 1970’s.

The film takes us from the brothers early years showing us the strong family bond they share, the bands inception, the early struggles they faced trying to land a record deal with what was considered at the time a commercially unviable name, even facing the social stereo-type within their own community for producing “white boy music” and ultimately having the tiniest problem of creating an unusually loud, “a head of it’s time” protopunk-sound. The 3 members that make up the band are David Hackney (guitar), Bobby Hackney (bass, vocals), and Dannis Hackney (drums).

I was fascinated with all 3 brothers and found myself relating to them emotionally on an artistic, family and faith level. Throughout the film we see the dynamic of their upbringing taking an ever larger and important role in their lives, holding them together through some pretty hard times. Ultimately this film shows us how David Hackney had the foresight to see what they were doing was revolutionary, fresh and mind blowing; and not to mention the faith he had in his musical vision regardless of any pressure or temptation they faced to change the bands image and sound for a record deal. Something that most of us would-be artists wouldn’t have the strength to do in our respected fields.

A Band Called Death is unforgettable, spiritual, real and as close as you can get to following artists on their life long pursuit of fulfilling their dreams. The filmmakers behind this film do a phenomenal job at telling the bands story but also managed to poetically interweave the cryptic message of why David Hackney decided to name the band Death in the first place.

“Death isn’t the end, it’s a spiritual begining.”

I could not recommend this documentary enough, if you’re into good docs, good flicks then don’t cheat yourself out of this gem. So what are you waiting for #NetFlixit!!!

╬D Recommendation: "The Room"

“The Room” is our ╬D Recommendation of the week, Be Warn…this movie is so bad, its sooo good. We watch it so you don’t have to…but I recommend you should watch it at least once in your life.

LOWDOWN:
An American black comedy about love and passion, betrayal and lies. It depicts the depths of friendship and relationships in one’s life and raises life’s real and most asked question: “Can you ever really trust anyone?…Are you ready to see reflections of your life? A successful banker, Johnny, is madly in love with his fiancé, Lisa, and plans to be married next month. His plans take a horrid turn when he finds the truth about Lisa and the people surrounding him.

REVIEW:
Multiple drop off plots, awful diaolague, Horrific acting, but overal immensly entertaining. A massive bust at a dark drama that is terribly done, so bad that it was advertised as a black comedy when Wiseau never intended or wanted to market it as a black comedy. But really, it’s worth a view.

The Room is amazing! Not because of great acting, a great script, and a great director, but because of how awful it is! Tommy Wiesau wrote, directed, produced, and stars in this big beautiful mess of a movie. It is the ultimate “so bad, its good” movie. Go see for yourself especially with the RIFFTRAX track.

OVERALL: It’s not so much the bad acting, it’s the bizarre script, quirky characters, subplots that are mentioned, then never discussed again, an Incredibly odd and distracting soundtrack, Characters that are never seen again, football being played 3 feet away from each-other, And who can forget the chicken noises? Its a pretty damn hilarious movie, and even if you don’t find it funny, its still undoubtedly 10X more interesting than most films out there today

Comic-Con 2012: Marvel’s "Item 47" to screen at end of SDCC scavenger hunt

Marvel will be unveiling at Comic-Con the One-Shot short film titled “Item 47” that will be released officially with “The Avengers” when it hits stores on September 25th of this year on Blu-Ray and DVD.

It all began with the Thor and Captain America Blu-ray/DVDs, Marvel Studios had started releasing short films or One-Shots. The Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) shorts were cute, and interesting but nothing particularly groundbreaking. However, Marvel might be adding some more weight with their latest One-Shot, “Item 47”.

The short film will be available on the Blu-ray/DVD for The Avengers (which will stores on September 25th), but Marvel will show Item 47 at a special screening at Comic-Con. The title refers to an alien gun that falls into the hands of a hard-luck couple played by Lizzy Caplan (party down and Cloverfield) and Jesse Bradford (Swimfan and Flags of a Fathers) after the epic battle in The Avengers. Two S.H.I.E.L.D. agents (Maximiliano Hernández and Titus Welliver) are tasked with getting the gun and capturing the couple, who are going on a crime-spree with their new toy.
While the first two Marvel one-shots, “Something Funny Happened on the Way to Thor’s Hammer” and “The Consultant” both ran 4 minutes, “Item 47” will run 12 minutes.

In addition to the poster and announcement, Marvel also let fans in on another surprise this morning. Those attending Comic-Con will be offered the chance to download a special app “Avengers Second Screen” that will work as a scavenger hunt guide to clues, ultimately leading to a special showing of  “Item 47” the evening of Thursday, July 12th.
