Disney to Remake "The Rocketeer"

It has been recently reported that Walt Disney Pictures is aiming to remake an epic classic “The Rocketeer”

NY Mag has learned that Walt Disney Pictures is planning to remake its 1991 film “The Rocketeer” and is currently meeting with writers to find a take that they like. The original was directed by Joe Johnston (Captain America). At this point, a director or actors have yet to be attached.

In the original film, young pilot Cliff Secord (Billy Campbell) stumbles on a top secret rocket-pack and with the help of his mechanic/mentor, Peevy (Alan Arkin), he attempts to save his girl (Jennifer Connelly and stop the Nazis as The Rocketeer.

It cost $35 million to make and grossed $46.7 million domestically. Hardly a success. And with Disney owning the “Iron Man” property, it’s odd that the studio would also want to pursue “the Rocketeer.”
