No need for any Redemption here, The Raid: Redemption is a heart-pounding action packed film and hits the spot for any action hunger appetite of any fan.
The Lowdown: In the Jakarta slums, a derelict apartment building has become a no-go area – even the police are unwilling to enter. It has become a safe-house for the most dangerous killers and gangsters. A SWAT team infiltrates the building, under the cover of darkness, to remove its owner.
The Review: If watching an action film is an addiction then The Raid would be the perfect drug for the addict. Director Gareth Evans serves us with a brutal and gory blend of gunfights and martial arts action with a side of HIGH BODY COUNT so high that the majority of the cast are credited in a numerical fashion (example: Tama’s Victim #5). People get beaten, punched, kicked, stabbed, shot, and abused so bad it makes you wanna punch the person next to you due to the fact that your adrenaline is on overdrive. The apartments and the close tight halls help create some crazy acrobatics and choreographed action i’ve seen since ONG BAK that will have you giving major KUDOS to all of the stunt people involved. The story is decent, but admit it that is not what most people are looking for when watching an action flick. The english dubbed is “okay” but bearable to watch for a foreign film. But, This explosive, tense action flick will have anyone doing flips on the walls in the theaters and is a must watch for any fan of the action genre.
Overall: The action is neither repetitive nor anesthetizing and has a little bit of down time for some dialogue to build the story but is easy to forgive with all the action, gore, and entertainment to satisfy anyone looking for a good action flick.
